tim drake and kate bishop drunk (tequila, never again, kate will say when she wakes up the next day and peels her cheek off the linoleum floor) on the floor of their kitchen, singing “kill my boyfriend” off-key when jason walks in and is all: “i’m gonna….i’m just gonna go, okay.”
Spoilers guys: I really like this. I’ve written before about how I can’t get all-in on the assassin angle with Natasha. It doesn’t make sense that she’d quit the KGB just to go on murderous rampages for the other side. I know people have been hesitant about the “atonement” angle teased in this series, for understandable reasons, but one thing I like about it is that it forces Natasha’s morality under a microscope: it doesn’t allow for easy violence and easy death. And neither of those should be easy for Natasha, because she knows their weight too well.
I’m also interested in how Noto will be using color in this series, since it seems like such a key element in the covers and this preview. Is red the motif, or is there something larger at work?
January 8th, mark your calendars!
Preview: Black Widow #1, by Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto.
